Chhtrapati Shivaji Jayanti Celebration

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the legendary Maratha warrior-king, was remembered and celebrated on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti at Mewar University. The event, organized by the Ms. Garima Garg (Head, Department of Aircraft Maintenance), and Mr. Sanjay Soni (Head, Department of Chemical Engineering), aimed to pay homage to Shivaji and highlight his contributions to Indian history and culture.

The celebrations began with a traditional aarti and lighting of the lamp, followed by the recitation of the Saraswati vandana. Students dressed in traditional Maratha attire performed a cultural program, including poetry and dance depicting Shivaji's bravery and valor on the battle field.

“Shivaji Maharaj was not just a king but a visionary leader who fought for his people's rights and freedom. His teachings and principles are still relevant in today's world," said Prof.(Dr.) R. Raja (Registrar and Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology)

As part of the event, a short autobiography of Shivaji Maharaj was played, highlighting the important events and achievements of his life. The autobiography focused on Shivaji's early life, his rise to power, and his many military victories against the Mughals and other enemies. It also touched upon his administrative skills and his contributions to the Maratha empire.

Speaking at the event, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Mewar University Shri Anand Verdhan Shukla (Rtd. IPS) highlighted the importance of Chhatrapati  Shivaji  Maharaj's legacy and his contributions to Indian history. "Shivaji Maharaj was not only a great warrior, but also an able administrator who established a strong and prosperous Maratha kingdom," he said. "His life and teachings inspire us to be brave, courageous, and just in our actions."

The occasion was graced by Mr. D.K. Sharma (Dean Academics), Prof. (Dr.) Chitralekha Singh (Dean of Fine Arts), Prof.(Dr.) Sonia Singla (Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences), Prof.(Dr.) Y. Sudarshan (Dean of Agriculture).

The celebration of Shivaji Jayanti is an annual tradition in Mewar University and is observed with great fervor and enthusiasm.

Overall, the Shivaji Jayanti celebration at Mewar University was a success, with students and faculty members coming together to pay homage to one of India's greatest heroes. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the rich cultural heritage of the country and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
