About the Department
The Department of Mathematics, Mewar University, was established in August 2009. The Department plays an important role in the development of scientific culture and technological innovation in this belt of Rajasthan.

Vision:
To be amongst the best mathematics department in the country and to establish an international reputation as a centre of teaching and research in the field of mathematics.
From its inception to the present, the department of mathematics has evolved growth in several directions. In the last years, this change has been particularly striking in terms of faculty recruitment, research output and the diversity of research pursued. To consolidate and sustain these achievements and to enable continuing future growth outlining the department’s goal and the challenges it faces.
Goals:
· To attract and retain academic of high caliber on the department’s faculty.
· To attract motivated and talented students to the Master’s and Ph.D. programmes of the department.
· To provide the best possible facilities for our faculties and students, particularly in the areas of computer facilities, library accessibilities and administrative support.
· To create an environment that supports outstanding research and development.
· To provide a simulating teaching environment.
· To build an inter-disciplinary programme with other departments.
· To groom a large pool of well-trained students as scientific manpower for quality national and international Ph.D. programmes and to make available a large pool of well educated individuals as potential teacher in colleges, universities and other institutions.
· To pursue collaborative programmes with reputed national and international institutions.
Area of Interest and Strength:
The ongoing teaching and research of the department includes a fairly wide spectrum of interest in both mathematics and statistics. Research areas carried out by the members of department’s faculty are:
· Operation Research
· Special Function
· Statistics, and
· Numerical Analysis
Departmental Highlights:
1) The department basically focuses on instilling scientific and technological outlook amongst the students mostly belonging to this belt of the state and the other part of the country.
2) We are proud of our excellent reputation for in-class and outside class teaching, research and student’s counseling.
3) Mathematics lab and library came into existence in the session 2014-15. There are 5 PC’s and around 50 books of various titles in this departmental library.
4) Group of students have developed a chalk model under the guidance of Dr. Harish Nagar and it has been submitted to the Controller of Patents & Designs, Government of India, New Delhi.
5) Various competitions like presentation, Card making competition, Solo song, Solo dance etc. were conducted by the department as a part of extra curricular activities.
6) Charts, project assignments, presentation are also prepared by the students from time to time.
7) Guest Lecture was arranged by the department faculties. Lecture was delivered by Dr. Vijay Agarwal, Professor, Modi University of Science & Technology, Lakshmangarh (Raj.) on ‘Application of Mathematics in Engineering’.
